The hands-on shaper

“Make the impossible possible, the possible easy, and the easy elegant.”Moshé Feldenkrais

Making the impossible possible has always been an exciting challenge for me. How often have we heard “We've always done it this way, we can't change it”? And then it does work – it is often just a question of “how”. I support my clients in both an advisory and a hands-on role in shaping and implementing change. I develop simple, transparent, traceable structures and processes – delivering “help for self-help”.

Background

Developing & implementing life sciences strategically.

With over 25 years of demanding leadership experience, I advise and support established companies and start-ups in the life sciences industry (pharma, biotechnology, medical technology and suppliers) in challenging situations – from strategic company and plant development through to implementation. My focus is on developing and transitioning organisational structures, evolving and optimising (effectiveness and efficiency) business and manufacturing processes, accompanying people development, planning and executing investment projects (reengineering and new builds), as well as product launch, establishment and transfer. I hold an Executive MBA in General Management from the University of St. Gallen and am a pharmacist, specialist pharmacist for pharmaceutical technology and a Qualified Person according to §15 AMG.

Lighthouse projects

Selected projects.

Establishing as a Contract Manufacturer

For a biopharmaceutical research and development company, I was responsible for the design, build-up and establishment of operational manufacturing for the production and supply of clinical trial samples, as well as its spin-off and transfer into an independent, competitive and future-proof company aiming to act as a full-service provider and contract manufacturer. As project lead of the multi-project with 15 sub-projects, I created both the project organisation and standardised project structures, ensuring effective and efficient initiation and execution.

Transformation into a future-ready company

With the goal of transforming a corporate-owned business unit into a competitive, future-proof, independent company, I – as managing director and project lead – created a shared vision, set up the corresponding programme and was responsible for its concrete execution. The organisation was guided from functional to process-oriented structures and all business processes were optimised for effectiveness and efficiency. Conversions of the existing facility (sterile production and packaging) enabled capacity expansion to meet market demand. Accompanying people development rounded out the programme.

Innovative sterile production facility

Alongside my operational responsibilities as plant manager, I was the project lead responsible for the construction of a new sterile production facility from planning through to commissioning, the migration of all products from the existing plant to the new build, and ensuring regulatory compliance and customer requirements (CMO). In the freed-up space I rebuilt and expanded the packaging. In parallel, I further developed the organisational structure and optimised business processes with a focus on effectiveness and efficiency. For this facility I received the FOYA in the Operational Excellence category.
