The versatile one

“Connecting knowledge is more important than the mere accumulation of knowledge; insight is more important than a flood of information.”Kersten Kempfer (*1958), Dr.-Ing. in technical cybernetics and automation engineering

Focusing on the essentials, connecting knowledge from different disciplines, always with the goal of creating real added value for the client, is a genuine challenge in today's information society. My aim is to support clients professionally in meeting this challenge, whether in an advisory or an executing role.

Background

Connecting knowledge across many disciplines.

With over 30 years of professional and project experience in a wide range of industries, I can draw on a rich wealth of experience. I started with a business management education and then continued my training in the fields of IT and organization. The interrelationships between IT, organization, people and the business environment have always been of particular interest to me. In my work as a coach, advisor and implementer, I am fortunate enough to operate every day in exactly this field of tension.

Lighthouse projects

Selected projects.

Service management system

As a certified ISO20000 consultant, I was able to develop a complete service management system (SMS) for a large pharmaceutical company as the basis for a global service transition program. The project included developing and establishing the individual service management processes, creating a matching web application and training the staff involved. Thanks to the newly established SMS, the service transition program was completed successfully and within the planned timeframe.

Regulatory information management system

As development lead and a certified Scrum Master, I coordinated up to 20 globally distributed developers in a software development project set up according to agile principles. Through connecting knowledge, lateral thinking and the necessary persuasiveness with stakeholders, I was able to ensure that the originally intended system architecture was fundamentally changed, achieving substantial cost savings for the client. Despite (or because of) the changed system architecture, the project was completed successfully and on schedule.

Datacenter consolidation

As lead of the analyst team, I coordinated the consolidation of the IT infrastructure (hardware and software) of a renowned pharmaceutical company from 13 outdated local datacenters into 2 new central ones. Through meticulous planning, consideration of the complex dependencies between several thousand components and optimal use of resources, the program, which lasted over 3 years, was completed successfully and within the planned timeframe without any unplanned system outages.
