Efficient Collaboration with MS Teams and Zoom

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, video conferencing tools such as MS Teams and Zoom have become indispensable in everyday working life. But which tool is better suited for team collaboration? And what really matters when choosing the right tool?

We tested both platforms in daily use and share our findings with you.

MS Teams: The integrated solution

Microsoft Teams is more than a video conferencing tool. It is a comprehensive collaboration platform that combines chat, video conferencing, file storage and app integration in a single interface. Those who are already at home in the Microsoft 365 world benefit from seamless integration with Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive and other M365 services.

Particularly noteworthy is the ability to create teams and channels to structure collaboration by project or department. This keeps everything in one place – from conversations to documents.

Zoom: The video conferencing specialist

Zoom has established itself as the leading video conferencing tool and scores particularly well in terms of ease of use and stability. The quality of video and audio transmission is excellent, and features such as breakout rooms make Zoom particularly attractive for larger meetings and workshops.

In contrast to MS Teams, however, Zoom is primarily focused on video conferencing. Additional tools are required for a comprehensive collaboration solution.

What really counts: The work culture

Choosing the right tool is only part of the equation. What really counts is the work culture and how the tools are used. Clear communication rules, documented agreements and a conscious approach to notifications are crucial – regardless of whether you use MS Teams or Zoom.

Our recommendation: choose the tool that best suits your existing infrastructure and working habits. And above all, invest in developing a common work culture – because that is what makes the difference.
